IEEE Industrial Electronics Society
Technical Committee on: Control, Robotics and Mechatronics
Subcommittee of Computational Intelligence

Our mission
Professor Peter Korondi
(Chair)
The basic operations used in today’s widely available personal computers are several thousands times faster than the elementary operations of nerve cells in the brain. Even so, a human being is capable of recognizing simple shapes and objects in images much more easily than the state-of-the-art software available today. The reason for this is that the human brain uses completely different functional hierarchies in understanding images, than do the image processing methods in computer science. It is this realization that opens a new approach of “Computational Intelligence“. This subcommittee will focus on biologically inspired computation and its industrial applications.
